Privacy Policy for Shoptap

Effective Date: December 1, 2025

This Privacy Policy describes how Shoptap ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information in connection with your use of our website, services, and browser extension (collectively, the "Service").

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Terms of Service.

For regional compliance details, visit our GDPR compliance checklist. We’ll link our accessibility statement here once that audit is published.

Information We Collect

When you use our Service, including the Shoptap browser extension, we may collect the following types of information:

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

Data Storage

Your information, including saved items and account details, is stored on our infrastructure partners (DigitalOcean, Backblaze B2). Media assets inherit the visibility you set inside Shoptap. When you delete content, we schedule the related storage objects for removal.

Server Logs

Our application logs record the request path, HTTP method, a high-entropy request ID, and—for signed-in users—a numeric account identifier. We use these logs to detect outages, investigate abuse, and honor data requests. We do not store IP addresses or User-Agent strings in persistent logs.

Sharing Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with service providers who help us operate the Service (for hosting, analytics, and authentication) or if required by law. Each provider is bound by a data processing agreement with Standard Contractual Clauses where applicable.

We use service providers (data processors), including DigitalOcean (cloud infrastructure), Backblaze (media storage), and PostHog (analytics). We have entered into Data Processing Agreements with these providers and rely on standard contractual safeguards for any international data transfers.

Your Choices

You can access and manage your saved items through your Shoptap account. You can also uninstall the browser extension at any time. Account settings allow you to pause or delete your account, download a copy of your data, or request help by emailing [email protected].

Analytics

We use PostHog to measure aggregate usage. We hash account identifiers before they reach PostHog and omit email addresses. We’re adding an account settings toggle to opt out of analytics; until that ships, email [email protected] and we’ll disable tracking manually.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page.
